History of My Neighbor And Me

In June 2010 with $3000 saved from a part-time job, My Neighbor and Me began when Christina started helping two women's groups sell their product at the Reston Craft Market at Lake Anne on Saturday mornings. By the end of the first market season, she was assisting five small fair trade groups.

In 2012, Christina opened a small fair trade boutique in the 180 square foot enclosed porch of her home with a special use permit from the town to test the Berryville market. In the porch shop, she added products from well-known fair trade groups such as Ten Thousand Villages and SERRV. It was during this time that the shop became the number one attraction on TripAdvisor in Berryville.

In early 2014, Christina moved the shop into Berryville Main Street's incubator space in the former Berryville Police Department. Seven months later, a perfect location opened up and she moved the business (two moves in one year!) to 15 E. Main Street.

In July 2019, Christina closed the shop in Berryville in order to take a sabbatical for rest and to assist her parents in a major life transition.

In June 2020, Christina restarted My Neighbor and Me as a fair trade market stand at the Clarke County Farmers Market.

In November 2020, she used the home porch again, This time as a seasonal Pop - Up shop for the Christmas season.

In 2021, Christina participated as a full-time vendor at the Clarke County Farmer's Market & offered private shopping appointments in the porch shop if requested. In October 2021, regular hours resumed four days per week in the porch shop for the Christmas shopping season.

In April 2022, the gift shop finally returned to Main Street & moved to our new location at 14 W. Main Street. The space continues the cozy "feel" of the porch displayed in a pre-Civil War era building.
